Bangladesh is likely to be part of an exciting tri-series T20I event, featuring Australia and Pakistan, set to be played in February 2026. The news has been confirmed by a close source within the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

According to the Cricfrenzy website, the tri-nation series will be played before the T20 World Cup 2026 event, and will give a good preparation time for Bangladesh, Australia, and Pakistan. The tri-series is slowly making its way back after disappearing for quite a few years. Recently, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and New Zealand have been playing a tri-nation series in Zimbabwe. Speaking about the upcoming tri-nation T20I series featuring Australia, Bangladesh, and Pakistan, the Aussies are set to tour Pakistan for a three-match T20 series.

Now, both the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Cricket Australia (CA) are exploring possibilities to turn the three-match T20 bilateral series into a tri-series, with Bangladesh joining the two teams.

PCB keen on including Bangladesh owing to strong bonds between the two boards

For the unversed, PCB has shown a lot of interest in including Bangladesh due to a lot of mutual trust between the cricketing boards. The two teams also recently played a T20 series. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Annual General Meeting (AGM), which is set to be held from July 24-25, is expected to pitch the idea to BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul to discuss the same.

If the plan goes accordingly, then the tri-nation T20 series could include each of the three teams playing two games against the others, followed by the final game among the top two teams. A total of seven matches will be played.
