Former England legend James Anderson has enrolled himself in the drafts for the upcoming BBL season. The BBL 2025-26 season starts later this year and there is already a lot of anticipation regarding Anderson.
He will eventually become the oldest player ever to play in the league if he is roped in by any of the eight franchises. The full list of drafts have some of the most renowned T20 players from all across the globe.
Mohammad Rizwan, Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf have enrolled themselves in the drafts for the upcoming season. Babar has signed up with the Sydney Sixers and he is expected to play alongside Steve Smith. Meanwhile, Haris Rauf, after impressing previous seasons for Melbourne Stars, is back in the league again.

Among the other reputed international players who have enrolled themselves in the draft include Jofra Archer, Zak Crawley, Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, Alex Hales, Dawid Malan, Jason Roy and Reece Topley from England. Lockie Ferguson, Tim Southee and Kane Williamson (for three games only) from New Zealand. Sri Lanka's Kusal Perera, West Indies' Shamar Joseph and Bangladesh's Mustafizur Rahman.
Among all the names mentioned above, James Anderson might be the biggest attraction, given his legacy as a player for England in international cricket and his contribution to cricket overall.
Before BBL, Anderson enrolled himself in the IPL 2025 auction and also in the Hundred draft. He was ignored in both and hence there is an anticipation that he will find buyers in the BBL.
Meanwhile, Alistair Dobson, Cricket Australia’s Executive General Manager, Big Bash League, is excited about the upcoming season with the kind of players having nominated themselves in the draft.
"The quality of the pool certainly vindicates our decision to bring this year’s draft forward to allow clubs to get a fast start on locking in overseas stars so they have certainty before they use the other mechanisms to build their teams," said Dobson.
