Gujarat Titans (GT) are set to square off against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Eliminator of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025). This knockout clash will unfold at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur on May 30, where both teams will fight to keep their title hopes alive.
Gujarat Titans, led by Shubman Gill, enjoyed a largely stable run through the league phase. They spent most of the season at the top and seemed primed for a top-two finish. However, defeats in their last two matches cost them momentum at the worst possible time, and they had to settle for third place.
Gill, as skipper and opener, has led from the front with 649 runs, while Sai Sudharsan has quietly stolen the spotlight with 679 runs, often playing the required role without much noise. A big blow for the Titans, though, is the absence of Jos Buttler, who had piled up 538 runs in the season before leaving early for England duty.
On the bowling front, Prasidh Krishna has been the best performer. He has picked up 23 wickets across the league stage. However, Gujarat will be without the services of Kagiso Rabada for the knockouts. The South African speedster has left India to link up with the national team ahead of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 final.
Talking about Mumbai Indians, they stumbled through the early weeks, losing four of their first five matches. Just when it looked like their season might be over, the five-time champions turned the tide with six wins on the trot. Despite their stunning comeback, they missed out on a Qualifier 1 spot after losing their final group game to Punjab Kings (PBKS).
Suryakumar Yadav has been MI’s heartbeat with the bat. He has scored 640 runs in 14 matches. With the ball, left-arm quick Trent Boult has led the way, claiming 19 wickets in the season so far.
The Mumbai side will miss several overseas players in the playoffs, namely Ryan Rickelton, Will Jacks and Corbin Bosch. In their place, MI have roped in Jonny Bairstow, Charith Asalanka and Richard Gleeson.

GT vs MI Pitch Report: Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur
The pitch at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur has favoured the fast bowlers. There is something in it for the spinners too, enough grip and bite to keep them interested through the middle overs. In fact, last night, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) bowled out Punjab Kings for just 101 runs in Qualifier 1, a clear indication of how tricky this pitch can be. Of the five games held at this venue in IPL 2025, three have gone in favour of the team batting first.
