The BCCI selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar on Saturday, May 24 announced an 18-member Test side for the five-match Test series against England. Rishabh Pant has been named the vice-captain of this Test side for the tour.
The BCCI has included several new faces into the squad, giving them their maiden Test call or recalling them back into the Test squad after a long hiatus.
Among the batters, Sai Sudharsan earned his maiden Test call on the back of his good IPL and domestic performances. India A skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran earned a recall and so did Karun Nair after scoring tons of runs in domestic cricket.

Alongside these names, KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant form the core of this Test side in terms of key batters. Among the all-rounders, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar have retained their spots from the Australia series, Shardul Thakur has been included in the side on the back of his good domestic performances.

- First Test: June 20-24, Headingley (Leeds)
- Second Test: July 2-6, Edgbaston (Birmingham)
- Third Test: July 10-14, Lord’s (London)
- Fourth Test, July 23-27, Old Trafford (Manchester)
- Fifth Test: July 31- August 4, The Oval (London)
Among the bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah will lead this Indian attack in England. He has the likes of Md Siraj, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna and Arshdeep Singh for company. Arshdeep has also earned his maiden Test call. He also has recent experience of playing country cricket in England.
Sundar, Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav are the three specialist spinners in the side with Dhruv Jurel as the second wicketkeeper. India begin their Test series against England with the first Test at Headingley from June 20.
