India Set to Tour Bangladesh in August, Suryakumar Yadav’s Availability Uncertain - Reports

India’s white-ball tour of Bangladesh, scheduled for August 2025, is reportedly set to go ahead as planned.

A senior official from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that there have been no discussions or instructions regarding cancellation. Preparations for the series are underway and, unless there is any directive from the Indian government, the tour will take place as scheduled.

Over the past few months, reports had begun to circulate that the tour might get cancelled. These concerns emerged after controversial political developments that strained diplomatic relations between India and Bangladesh.

India’s Tour of Bangladesh Unlikely to Get Cancelled

The BCCI has distanced itself from political controversies and reiterated that the cricketing schedule remains unchanged. Speaking to InsideSport, a senior board official made it clear that there has been no conversation within the board about cancelling or deferring India’s tour of Bangladesh, scheduled in August later this year.

"At the moment, the series is on. We haven’t had any discussions regarding postponement or cancelling the series. We haven’t had any instructions from the government either on cancelling the series. If such a situation arises, we will take a call accordingly," a BCCI official said as quoted to InsideSport.

The tour, starting on August 17, includes three ODIs and as many T20Is. It is part of India’s ongoing white-ball commitments leading into a packed home season.

Suryakumar Yadav Racing Against Time

There is a cloud over Suryakumar Yadav’s participation in the T20Is against Bangladesh as per an InsideSport report. The Indian T20I captain recently had surgery in Germany to fix a sports hernia. Though the operation went well, doctors have advised at least two months of rest before returning to competitive cricket.

If Suryakumar does not recover in time, all-rounder Axar Patel is being looked at as the likely stand-in captain.
