Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won the 15th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Eden Gardens by 80 runs.
SRH’s chase began disastrously, crumbling to 9 runs for 3 wickets in just 2.1 overs. KKR’s bowlers struck early, with the SRH top order faltering against a disciplined attack. The dangerous troika of Travis Head (4 runs off 2 balls), Abhishek Sharma (2 runs off 6 balls), and Ishan Kishan (2 runs off 5 balls) fell early, denting SRH’s hopes of chasing 201 runs.
While Vaibhav Arora dismissed Head and Kishan, Harshit Rana sent Abhishek packing.

Nitish Kumar Reddy (19 runs off 15 balls) tried to stabilize the innings. He survived the powerplay but could not last for long as Andre Russell made his mark in wickets tally.
Debutant Kamindu Mendis (27 runs off 20 balls) showed glimpses of his talent. Known for his consistency, the Sri Lankan struck a few boundaries. But he was fighting a lost battle. The required rate continued to climb. Eventually, he too departed back to the dressing room in the 10th over, trying to take on Sunil Narine.

Aniket Verma (6 runs off 6 balls) could not display his hitting prowess in this match. Varun Chakaravarthy led to his undoing in the 11th over.

All of SRH’s hopes now rested on Heinrich Klaasen (33 runs off 21 balls). He took the attack to Narine in the 14th over, smashing two consecutive sixes. But those hits would only help SRH improve their net run rate in the end, as the South African was shown the exit door in the following over by Vaibhav Arora.
KKR eventually bundled SRH at a score of 120 runs in 16.4 overs, winning by 80 runs. Vaibhav and Chakaravarthy were the pick of the bowlers. Both of them took three wickets. Vaibhav was named Player of the Match for his spell of 3 wickets for 29 runs.
With his win, KKR rose to fifth position on the IPL 2025 points table, while SRH slipped to the bottom.
