Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) head coach Daniel Vettori was not a happy man when he looked back on his team's IPL 2025 campaign. The finalists of IPL 2024 have won just three matches this season and are languishing ninth on the points table.
Making the IPL 2025 playoffs is almost impossible for the Sunrisers, as they will get a maximum of 14 points if they win all their remaining games. However, 14 might not be enough to take them to the knockouts.
SRH, who started the decorated template of aggressive batting in the powerplay, could not replicate their 2024 heroics this time around. The likes of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head failed to be as effective at the top as they were last season.

SRH faces Gujarat Titans on Friday, May 2, and is already in a must-win territory. This is the reverse fixture between the two sides, and GT won the previous encounter by seven wickets.
Don't Think We've Put Together Complete Performances: Daniel Vettori
Before this game, head coach Daniel Vettori reflected back on their IPL 2025 campaign. He said that the team has not shown enough consistency to be in the top four teams.
“I don’t think we’ve put together complete performances. We’ve let ourselves down in one facet, probably in every match. You look at the good teams that are winning at the moment, they’ve been consistent across the board,” Vettori said in the pre-match press conference.
However, Aniket Verma's performance has impressed him so far in the season. Aniket has scored 190 runs from nine games at an average of 27.14 with a top score of 74 runs.
“In terms of individuals, I’ve been very pleased with Aniket - coming into the side and the IPL for the first time and being able to play a style that’s really suited the team. He’s established himself as one of our key members,” Vettori added.
SRH won against CSK in the previous game with Harshal Patel winning the Man of the Match for his figures of four wickets for 28 runs in the game. The other two wins for SRH are against RR in their season opener and against PBKS when they chased 246 runs in Hyderabad.
