Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will face off against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 53rd match of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on May 4.
KKR, struggling to find consistency, is languishing at seventh place on the IPL 2025 points table with four wins from ten matches. RR, in a worse position, is at the eighth position, having managed only three victories in eleven games, is out of the playoff race.
Led by Ajinkya Rahane, Kolkata Knight Riders have had a rollercoaster IPL 2025 campaign. Despite their title-winning heroics in 2024, KKR have struggled to replicate that form under new leadership. Their recent thrilling victory over Delhi Capitals (DC), where they defended 204 runs with the help of Sunil Narine’s three-wicket haul, kept their faint playoff hopes alive.Â
Varun Chakaravarthy has been their standout bowler with 13 wickets this season. KKR will look to capitalise on their home advantage at the Eden Gardens to secure a much-needed win.
Rajasthan Royals, under Riyan Parag’s captaincy, have endured a disappointing season. A heavy 100-run loss to Mumbai Indians (MI) in their last outing at Jaipur confirmed their elimination from playoff contention.Â
With key players like Sanju Samson and Sandeep Sharma sidelined by injuries, RR will bank upon Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi to do the heavy lifting with the bat, while Jofra Archer will look to use the new ball to his advantage. Playing for pride, RR will aim to spoil KKR’s party.
