The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) on Thursday, May 15, awarded former cricketers Moeen Ali and Meg Manning with Honorary Life Memberships.
Both stalwarts for their respective teams in men's and women's cricket, their contribution to the game was honored with the club granting them life membership.
Moeen Ali announced his international retirement in September 2024. Meanwhile, Lanning announced hers in 2023. Both have been great servants for their respective national teams.

Moeen Ali, Meg Lanning Had Decorated International Careers
Moeen Ali made his international debut for England in 2015 and in his decade-long career won the Ashes series, ODI World Cup, and T20 World Cup with England. He scored 6,678 international runs and 366 international wickets in 68 Tests, 138 ODIs, and 92 T20Is for England. He was a part of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2025 but will not be available for the remaining leg of IPL 2025.
“It’s a tremendous honour to be awarded Honorary Life Membership of MCC. To be listed alongside so many cricketing greats is truly humbling. I’m really thankful to the Club for this, as being made an HLM is very special. I always enjoyed playing at Lord’s and it was an incredible feeling to walk out at such a historic venue,” Moeen said, as quoted by Lord's official release.
Talking about Meg Lanning, she remains the most successful international captain with ODI World Cup and T20 World Cup wins under her belt. She won four T20 World Cups and one ODI World Cup as Australia women's captain. She is also the proud winner of the Commonwealth Gold medal. With five World Cups wins as captain, she remains the most successful skipper in women's cricket.
“I’m thrilled to be awarded Honorary Life Membership of MCC, becoming part of a prestigious Club and following in the footsteps of a long line of fantastic cricketers, both from Australia and around the world. It is a huge privilege, as it always has been to play at Lord’s both internationally and domestically, and I am honoured to accept the invitation,” Lanning remarked.

MCC Cricket Committee Chair's Comments On Moeen, Meg
Claire Taylor, MCC Cricket Committee Chair, congratulated the two cricketers after they had been nominated for lifelong memberships.
“With Lord’s preparing for its first international action of the new season, it is fantastic to see three more cricketers confirmed as Honorary Life Members of MCC.” “The list of Honorary Life Members includes many of the greatest cricketers to have played the game, and this latest cohort are no exception. They have made immeasurable contributions to the game both on and off the pitch, and we are honoured to welcome them as Members of our Club," she concluded saying.
