Bangladesh still trail by 96 runs in the second innings in response to Sri Lanka's first-innings total of 458 after stumps on day 3 in Colombo. The Lankans, on the other hand, can sniff victory.
After day two, Sri Lanka dominated proceedings on day three as well. Resuming their innings on 290 for the loss of two wickets, they first posted a mammoth 458 runs on board.
Pathum Nissanka who was unbeaten on 147 overnight went onto score 158 before he was eventually dismissed by Bangladesh left-arm spinner Taijul Islam.

Sri Lanka Finish Strong On Day 3
After his dismissal, Lankan lower-order batters Kusal Mendis (84 runs off 87 balls) and Kamindu Mendis (33 runs off 41 balls). Crucial runs from the tailenders ensured Sri Lanka went past 450 in their first innings efforts with the bat.
Once Bangladesh walked out to bat in their second innings, they were trailing by 211 runs. By the end of the day's play, they find themselves on the brink of a defeat. The Lankan bowlers combined to take the top six, giving away just 115 runs cumulatively. Left-arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya took two wickets for 47 runs. SL skipper Dhananjaya de Silva picked up two wickets giving away just 14 runs. Asitha Fernando and Tharindu Ratnayake picked up a wicket each.
Previously for Bangladesh, Taijul Islam's fifer headlined their effort with the ball to bowl out Sri Lanka, but not before they had put up a substantial first-innings total on the board.
Sri Lanka Sniffing Victory In Colombo
The first Test at Galle ended in a draw. However, Sri Lanka are firmly placed to win the second Test and get their first WTC 2025-27 points on board. Bangladesh needs a miracle from their lower-order batters to turn the game around. Wicketkeeper Litton Das is unbeaten on 13 at stumps and needs to garner the strike and inch as close to the deficit as possible. The match has been played at a fast pace with 26 wickets being lost inside the first three days of the Test match. The WI vs AUS Test match also saw more than 20 wickets lost in the first two days of the Test match.
