KL Rahul can do no wrong in the year 2025, as he has gone to establish himself as one of the crises man for the Indian Team. The right-hand batter was phenomenal in the five-match away Test series against England, scoring two tons and helping the team achieve a hard-earned 2-2 draw. The opening batter scored more than 500 runs to cement his place as the Mr.Dependable of the side.
In India's first home Test of the 2025 season, Rahul carried that scintillating form and scored 100 against the West Indies. Now, in the second Test on Day One, the opener etched his name into record books and joined Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in an elite list in the WTC cycle - he became just the seventh Indian batter to amass 2,000 runs in the brief history of WTC. The right-hand batter needed just 16 runs to enter the club, and he achieved the feat in style, hitting back-to-back fours of Jayden Seales in the ninth over.

He tops the list with six hundreds to his name. Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Kohli follow the list, with all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and opener Yashasvi Jaiswal occupying spots above Rahul.

KL Rahul enjoys fruitful 2025 year as India's rock at the top
With Test retirements of Kohli and Rohit, it was imperative of Rahul to step up and lead the relatively young Indian batting order. The veteran exactly did that during the team's away tour of England, where, besides Gill and Jadeja, Rahul showed exemplary consistency at the top by seeing off the new ball and laying the perfect foundation. Year 2025 has all been about the 33-year-old showing a huge appetite to score runs.
Before the Delhi Test, he had amassed 649 runs in seven matches, including three hundreds. The opening batter has admirably filled the void left by Rohit at the top. There was never any doubt about the talent Rahul possessed; however, consistency was what everyone expected of him. Now, he is delivering goods and has made the opening spot his own.
